Sergio N. Torres received the B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Concepcion, Chile in 1987, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degree in engineering from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH, in 1997 and 2001, respectively.

He has been a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Concepcion, Chile since 1987. He is a member of the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers, IEEE member and the Optical Society of America. His areas of interest are digital signal and imaging processing applied to electro-optical systems, optical sensors, optical communications, and infrared imaging systems.
