Rosa L. Figueroa was born in Calama, Chile, in 1979. She received the B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Concepcion, Chile in 2004, and her Ph.D. degree in engineering from the University of Concepcion, Chile, in 2012.

She has been a member of the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Concepcion, since 2006. Her research interest are medical informatics, machine learning and text mining. She is actually working in research projects related to secondary use of medical data and active learning form text classification.
