Biography:
Miguel Figueroa is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Universidad de Concepción, Chile. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Electronics Engineering (1990) and an M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (1997) from Universidad de Concepción. He received the M.Sc. (1999) and Ph.D. (2005) degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, USA. Dr. Figueroa has vast experience in the design of high-performance embedded systems for real-time signal processing applications using FPGAs, as well as digital and mixed-signal VLSI. His current research interests include high-performance VLSI systems and reconfigurable computing for video processing and computer vision, and instrumentation and processing for quantum communications. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 scientific publications.
His research interests include VLSI design, neurobiology-inspired computation, and reconfigurable architectures.
